Rose-Hip Vital® Canine is a scientifically and clinically tested natural anti-inflammatory, powerful antioxidant and rich source of natural vitamin C. Made from pure and natural Rosehips manufactured with patented processes, it’s a plant-based anti-inflammatory and immune system support for your dog’s joint health and general wellbeing.

Rose-Hip Vital® Canine is scientifically proven to reduce inflammation, protect cartilage, improve general health and improve performance.

Unlike other complimentary therapies for joint health, Rose-Hip Vital® Canine is much more than just a joint supplement. It’s anti-inflammatory properties assist with systemic inflammation which help to reduce swelling, inflammation and pain associated with a wide variety of conditions.
The rich natural vitamin C and powerful antioxidant combination provide significant immune system support which helps to discourage the attack on joints, repair damaged tissue and improve general health and wellbeing. Research on humans also indicates Rose-Hip Vital® helps to improve kidney and cardiovascular function while helping to lower blood sugar levels.
Unlike other joint supplements, Rose-Hip Vital® Canine does not contain any animal ingredients (including shellfish), yeast, gluten, wheat, dairy, lactose or genetically modified ingredients. Rose-Hip Vital® Canine contains 100% patented Rosehip powder. Nothing else is added.

Research shows Rose-Hip Vital® doesn’t have the potential side-effects of non steroidal anti-inflammatory medication and is suitable when there is increased risk from the gastrointestinal or cardiovascular side effects of NSAIDs. Rose-Hip Vital® Canine is well-tolerated and palatable. There are no known contraindications (it can be taken with any other medication or supplement) or negative side-effects.
Scientific research shows Rose-Hip Vital® powder protects cartilage. This means it helps to delay the onset of arthritic changes or slow down further cartilage degeneration if it already exists.

GOPO® – A Vital Difference

Thanks to patented extraction and drying processes, Rose-Hip Vital® Canine contains the active compound GOPO® (glycoside of mono and diglycerol).

Some white blood cells contain granulocytes which enable them to ‘clean’ an inflamed joint by destroying the bacteria in it.  Too many of these white blood cells wear down tissue cartilage. In large numbers they can also produce chemical enzymes and toxic free-radicals which cause even more tissue damage. Accumulation of white blood cells combined with the release of chemical substances causes joint pain and inflammation. The more inflamed a joint becomes, the more the white blood cells are attracted to it – a painful cycle.

GOPO® discourages large numbers of white blood cells from accumulating in the joint, thereby breaking the cycle of joint inflammation and alleviating pain.

When evaluating the science supporting a product, it’s important to ascertain the level of testing, with the most detailed level being double-blind placebo controlled clinical trials. These trials are then published in independent peer-reviewed medical, pharmacology and health journals.

Rose-Hip Vital® Canine is supported by over 30 scientific papers including 9 clinical trials which have been published in peer reviewed journals internationally. Rose-Hip Vital® is now acknowledged as the leader in the field of manufactured Rosehip products.

Does a herbal remedy derived from subspecies of Rosa Canina, improve the immune response, working capacity and well-being of dogs? This parallel, placebo-controlled, double blind randomized study showed Rose-Hip Vital® Canine exhibits anti-inflammatory properties in dogs and works as a strong antioxidant. The actively treated group of dogs showed improvements in working capacity, litheness, speed and quality of the fur.

A presentation by Joseph Schwager, Phd, at the APLAR conference Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology conference in Japan titled The Galactolipid GOPO® Mediates Beneficial Effects of Rose Hip on Arthritis by Reducing Chemokine and Interleukin Production in Macrophages and Chondrocytes, showed that an active compound, when isolated from the
Rosehip, may play a role in assisting in the rebuilding and protection of cartilage.

A study released by Arasalan Kharazmi, Phd, at OARSI (Osteoarthritis Research Society International) – Laboratory and preclinical studies on the anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties of rosehip powder – Identification and characterisation of the active component GOPO® – demonstrate through assessment of in vitro studies that rosehip powder exhibits anti-inflammatory as well as anti-oxidant activities.

Straight from the Natural Source

The humble Rosehip is a superfood. A wholefood, a fruit, containing 8 naturally occurring vitamins (including C, E, B1 and B6) and 23 minerals (including iron, copper, zinc and magnesium), essential fatty acids (omegas 3, 6 and 9), antioxidants and flavonoids.

Rose-Hip Vital® Canine contains pure and natural rosehips manufactured with patented extraction and drying processes. Nothing else is added.

The Rosehips are harvested from the Rosehip plant (Rosa Canina) farmed in the nutrient rich soils of Denmark. The roots penetrate deep into the ground, absorbing a vast array of potent natural vitamins and minerals ensuring the product is a rich source of natural nutrients. The farming process is pesticide free.

A highly specialised machine delivers a unique planting process by laying down plastic sheeting to insert young plants into the ground at precise intervals. Once planted, nature does all the amazing work with no artificial interference. Plants are left to mature for 3 to 4 years before harvesting. Not only does this give plants time to produce the best quality fruits, it also allows their amazing root system to dive deep into the ground (well below the ploughing level) where they can draw precious trace minerals from soil that has not been depleted by modern agricultural practices.

For dogs weighing less than 7.5kg (16.5lb)
Feeding the recommended dose for dogs weighing up to 15kg (33lb) may not be necessary. Logic suggests you can halve the dose for dogs up to 7.5kg (16.5lb) and expect the same results. We recommend administering the full loading dose if possible until results are noticed and then slowly reduce the dose until a balance between cost and effectiveness is achieved.

NOTE: The more Rose-Hip Vital® Canine your dog eats, the more effective it will be. The appropriate dose might also depend on whether Rose-Hip Vital® Canine is being used to reduce joint pain/inflammation or for prevention of joint issues/wellbeing.

Tips for fussy eaters
If you already know your dog is a fussy eater, we suggest you gradually introduce Rose-Hip Vital Canine. Start with a small pinch of powder and slowly increase to the recommended dose over time. Other tips to get your fussy dog to eat Rose-Hip Vital Canine include mixing it with wet food i.e. mince, sardines, tuna, yogurt, cottage cheese, milk, raw egg, butter or stock.

For dogs with a history of stomach sensitivity
Introduce Rose-Hip Vital Canine very slowly. Start with a small pinch of powder and gradually increase once tolerance has been established.

First bottle calculation includes 3 weeks on loading dose followed by maintenance dose ongoing.
2.5g (0.089oz) level scoop included. Mix with food once or twice daily. Do not mix with hot food or hot liquid. Results are typically noticed after three weeks.

Production Process

Distributed by Rose-Hip Vital Pty Ltd, Rose-Hip Vital® Canine was first launched into the Australian market in September 2012 Following an intensive APVMA application process (Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority) lasting more than 3 years. Legislative changes in 2015 excluded END category products from APVMA registration. Rose-Hip Vital Canine falls into this END category classification which explains why we no longer have any reference to the APVMA on the product label. A detailed explanation of the legislative changes and END category products can be found here.

The boutique Australian owned family business located in Chatswood, New South Wales, first imported Rose-Hip Vital® for human consumption in 2002. Committed to supporting quality of life for people, dogs and horses, Rose-Hip Vital Pty Ltd deliver on their promise by providing only 100% pure and natural products made from patented rosehip powder imported from Denmark.

Hyben Vital ApS, the manufacturer of Rose-Hip Vital®, is also a family-owned business based on the Danish Island of Langeland. In the early 1980′s, a Danish Osteoarthritis sufferer, Erik ‘Farmer’ Hansen was dissatisfied with other forms of therapy. He was recommended to try rosehip marmalade, and impressed with the symptomatic relief, farmer Hansen refined the art of extracting and drying rosehips to produce a more potent extract.

Small scale production and distribution of dried rosehip powder began – and letters of appreciation from thousands of satisfied customers soon followed. What started on a few acres in the early 1980’s has grown into over 200 hectares with some 40 professional farmers in Denmark growing Rosehip full-time to keep up with the demand.

In 1995, Hansen’s son delivered some of the 5000 letters of recommendation his father received to an inflammation specialist based at Fredricksberg Hospital, University of Copenhagen in Denmark. Upon reviewing the feedback, in-vitro studies were instigated to assess the validity of the reported success at a formal scientific level, bringing impressive results supporting the high effectiveness of the rosehip preparation.

Thanks to many years of intensive research and development, the active ingredients in the rosehip have since been identified, and the unique manufacturing methods used by Hyben Vitals ApS have been patented worldwide.
